who can say it better?

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

by Dr. Seuss

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.
You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,

you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
And you may not find any
you'll want to go down.
In that case, of course,
you'll head straight out of town.
 It's opener there
in the wide open air.
Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.
And when things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.
OH! THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!
You'll be on your way up!
You'll be seeing great sights!
You'll join the high fliers
who soar to high heights.
You won't lag behind, because you'll have the speed.
You'll pass the whole gang and you'll soon take the lead.
Wherever you fly, you'll be the best of the best.
Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
Except when you don't
Because, sometimes, you won't.
I'm sorry to say so
but, sadly, it's true
and Hang-ups
can happen to you.
You can get all hung up
in a prickle-ly perch.
And your gang will fly on.
You'll be left in a Lurch.
You'll come down from the Lurch
with an unpleasant bump.
And the chances are, then,
that you'll be in a Slump.
And when you're in a Slump,
you're not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself
is not easily done.
You will come to a place where the streets are not marked.
Some windows are lighted. But mostly they're darked.
A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!
Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?
How much can you lose? How much can you win?
And IF you go in, should you turn left or right...
or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
Simple it's not, I'm afraid you will find,
for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.
You can get so confused
that you'll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place...
...for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or a No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.
NO!That's not for you!
Somehow you'll escape
all that waiting and staying.
You'll find the bright places
where Boom Bands are playing.
With banner flip-flapping,
once more you'll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky.
Ready because you're that kind of a guy!
Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done!
There are points to be scored. there are games to be won.
And the magical things you can do with that ball
will make you the winning-est winner of all.
Fame! You'll be famous as famous can be,
with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.
Except when they don't.
Because, sometimes, they won't.
I'm afraid that some times
you'll play lonely games too.
Games you can't win
'cause you'll play against you.
All Alone!
Whether you like it or not,
Alone will be something
you'll be quite a lot.
And when you're alone, there's a very good chance
you'll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.
There are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won't want to go on.
But on you will go
though the weather be foul
On you will go
though your enemies prowl
On you will go
though the Hakken-Kraks howl
Onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore

and your sneakers may leak.
On and on you will hike
and I know you'll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.
You'll get mixed up, of course,
as you already know.
You'll get mixed up
with many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life's
a Great Balancing Act.

Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.
 And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)
KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!
 So...
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea,
you're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So...get on your way!

a hit!

we had our first youth group on saturday nite, and for a small town i must say it was a success! at first we didn't think many kids were going to show up... then we sent them out on an "amazing race-pizza edition" scavenger hunt type thing and they came back with more kids than we sent out! so we made pizza, played some ping-pong (including crazy trade off ping pong) and we all had a blast!
Leah Bidlake (one of the leaders)
Patrick Bidlake and Andrew Kelly
(two more leaders)
Angie Short (she wouldn't let me take her pic! hahah)

I'm still learning the kid's names, so i'm not gonna post any names, but these are just a few that i took of the kids... once i get to know them a little better i'll be able to tell you who they are... what makes me feel old is that most of these kids weren't even in school when i graduated... ughh...

Jake causing a little
mischief in the choir robes.....

For everyone praying for us... thanks! but we do need more prayer.... that there will be more kids come out and that they stay committed to coming and that more will accept Jesus as their Saviour!

u can't pick your family...

they always say that you can't choose your family... you're stuck with what ya get. but personally, i love my family, and i would pick them anyway. i love that my parents are more laid back, i love that my brothers are all doing things that they love, and i love that we talk and stay connected, even if it's just a couple of minutes on the phone, or thru the best thing ever invented.. msn. i love our house, i love our dog, and i love that we are all here for each other and stick up for one another when things are tough. i love that i am the only girl and feel protected by three strappin brothers. i love that they call me their "little sister" even tho i am older than two of them, but they all are taller than me by at least 6 inches. i love that we can joke, laugh, be loud, fight and cry together. i love that my mom is my best friend. i love that they are willing to help you out when u need it the most. i love that we are all not perfect, we make mistakes, but that doesn't keep us apart. i love that where we live, that my parents built our house. i love the quiet street that we live on. i love that we can all come home. thank you family... i love you!!

summoned?

The Summons

Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown? Will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me?

Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean in you and you in me?

Will you love the “you” you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found to reshape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?

Lord your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In Your company I’ll go where Your love and footsteps show.
Thus I’ll move and live and grow in you and you in me

9/11/01

september 11, 2001
an image forever etched in everyone's mind... and an event that will never be forgotten. i remember exactly what i was doing on this day, as i'm sure millions of others can recall exact events that took place. i was off work that day.. getting ready to go out to run some errands around moncton. i had the tv on in the background and i was just standing in my bathroom putting on makeup when i heard the music play for special bulletin on the station i was watching. i am completely obsessed with new york city, and as soon as i heard that a plane had struck the tower, i went out to watch. at first, like everyone, i thought it had just been an accident... a plane out of control, something terribly wrong... then i watched the second plane fly into the tower.. another image that is forever engraved in my mind's eye. i couldn't move from my couch... i just sat and watched, hand over my mouth in absolute shock. nothing in my lifetime had ever occured that could describe the magnitude of emotions that swept me... nothing in my lifetime had happened of this magnitude so close to home. i cried for the people who lost loved ones, i prayed for the people still in the towers.... then they fell. i never left my couch the rest of the day.... everyday errands just didn't seem to be important...life never the same.

sunday opener

we had a great day today for the church family... kicked off sunday school, worship team and all the other things that normally run on sunday mornings at the church. we had a bbq this afternoon at mcadam lake campground... it was alot of fun, but FREEZING.... we all huddled around the bbq (everyone wanted to be the chef) i was sooo happy to see sarah there with little sean.. he's getting sooo big now! he looks just like his daddy right now....
also found out this week that our new pastor (scott) and his wife dee are expecting a baby.. i think in may. she has been having some major sickness issues (it's not just morning) so i took her over a bottle of gingerale and some books to help pass the time a little better. we got to talking and she's a scrapper! i was so excited and so was she cause it's hard to get into scrappin without a buddy... sometime we are gonna plan a scrappin session when she's feeling a little more up to it.
worship team went well this morning... so weird voice cracks (cause that happens sometimes) and no major flubs.. it all went good. there were just three of us this morning, but we're hoping to get a few more out now that school is back in and it's easier to catch people at home and stuff...
here's some more pics from the picnic this afternoon

labour day weekend

wwwwhhhheeewww... what a weekend... started out by finishin up moving to mcadam... worked here at home all day friday getting unpacked and ready for my yard sale this weekend.. got lots of stuff to sell! then saturday i worked... it was so freakin busy. mom called me at work and we had a surprise visit from tracie and the kids.. they wanted mom and i to spend the nite when them at the lake cause it was the first time they'd been up all summer, so i drove there after work, had some marshmellows around the campfire, then off to bed. got up in the morning and drove up to mcadam for church.. and **prayer request** got recruited to be a youth leader and to help out with the worship team on sunday mornings.. they wanted me to help with sunday school, but i don't want to get bogged down with too much, especially with **prayer request** travelling to work everyday. anyways, i went back down to the lake after church and we had a great afternoon just lazing around and visiting with tracie, dallas, dayton and paige... then monday of course was labour day but mom and i put in a pretty full day of work anyway.. we organized the shed to get ready for the yard sale and lugged stuff out from the basement and got it all priced and set up... now we just need saturday to get here, and ** prayer request** the weather to stay good so it'll go off well. anyhoo, here's a pic of the kids that mom took... they had a great time! (please ignore the hidiousness that is me in the background.. just focus on the kids... focus... )
