last nite the mcadam boys were defending their provincial title for basketball, but as things sometimes go... they lost. it was a pretty good game with lots of support from everyone in town.. i don't think there was anyone left here!! ;) anyway, grand manan beat them by about 20 points, and they were all really disappointed because they had beaten them 3 times this year... i give them an A for effort anyways!

the weekend blogger
i've noticed lately that i'm only posting on the weekends! i'm very sorry, but that's when the funnest things happen, but i'll try to be a little bit better at posting more often. this past week went really good (aside from a few rough days but i don't want to talk about those) and this weekend i did do quite a few things. adam and i hung out friday nite, caught some vball at unb which was awesome.. saturday didn't really do too much, went to calais in the afternoon with scott and dee (had lunch at "wikipedia" (hahah dee) and then went to a dance here in big ole mcadam on saturday nite.. the dance kinda sucked.. the band just wasn't very good.

oopsy...
well.. i guess all the busyness of my exciting life (ha!) is catching up and the bloggin has just fell by the wayside. (hahah.. wayside.. funny word) anyways.. there's not much new to catch up on.. still workin away (doin both jobs now).. my new job is good.. it's hard to learn, but once i catch on to everything i think it'll be ok.
i did want to share a poem that i got from a book we're doing called basic christianity for our sunday night small group. it kinda spoke to me and i just felt like sharing it with everyone...
your call is clear, cold centuries across;
you bid me to follow you, and take up my cross,
and daily lose myself, myself deny,
and stern against myself shout "crucify".
my stubborn nature rises to rebel
against your call. proud choruses of hell
unite to magnify my restless hate
of servitude, lest i capitulate.
the world, to see my cross, would pause and jeer
i have no choice, but still to persevere
to save myself - and follow you from afar,
more slow than magi - for i have no star.
and yet you call me still. your cross
eclipses mine, transforms the bitter loss
i thought that i would suffer if i came
to you - into immeasurable gain.
i kneel before you, jesus, crucified,
my cross is shouldered and my self denied;
i'll follow daily, closely, not refuse
for love of you and man myself to lose.

phew! what a week
well, i'm back at home now and started my new job last monday and between that and getting caught up on sleep and readjusting to nb time, i'm now finally able to post the last couple of days of my trip. things went ok getting back, just a few delays and some missing pilots, but other than that i got home on time and started my new job! i just finished my first week, and i have a bit of info overload, but i think it'll be ok. the people in my class are really friendly and we all get along great, and our trainers are awesome! anyways, here is what i did last friday and saturday on my last two days in LA!
Friday: jen and i made a 2 hour drive south to go to tijuana, mexico! this was my first experience in mexico, and i must say.. big time culture shock! first of all, we parked in the US and then walked over to tijuana... there wasn't much for customs.. just a couple of barred gates and in you went. there was a guard sitting in the middle of the gates, but he was just reading a newspaper and didn't even look up as we walked by.. hmmm.. tight security!! hahah... then after we got over there we walked a little ways to get to downtown... there were people trying to sell you stuff everywhere... it was kinda dirty and gross and you just felt bad for them.. they would say anything to get you to come in to their shop to buy something..one guy yelled over to us "hey senioritas.. u come in, i rip u off less" hahah... u could barter for prices and really beat them down to a very low price... there were shops set up all along a ped way that you had to walk across to get to downtown eatin my true mexican taco... so afraid i was gonna get sick, but i didn't...

Saturday:
we met a couple of andy and jenny's friends who had driven over from phoenix the night before for a youth event.. we met them at IHOP in burbank for breakfast and visited with them for a couple of hours... this was my last day in cali, and we were close so we took andy to hollywood to show him around, then we drove up through the hills to look around. this was also the only day that it rained while i was there, so i'm gonna say it made it a little easier to leave, but don't really believe it!! ;)
